In four and a half years of blogging I have never been the recipient of one of these blog meme things — that is, until today. Gahlord Dewald at Union Street Media tapped me for this. It’s actually one of the better blog memes I’ve seen. Usually they’re a series of goofy questions, like “If you were a road sign, what road sign would you be?” This one’s a bit more general: 6 Random Things You Wouldn’t Know About Me Unless You Asked. Here goes…
- I moved 14 times in my first 15 years of life.
- I competed at and won state-wide recognition in my high school’s speech/forensics club in the category of “radio announcing.”
- Despite being a filmmaker and kind of film snob, I secretly love dumb romantic comedies.
- My middle name is “Sanford.”
- I was raised in a vaguely fundamentalist non-denominational Protestant Christian faith and am now an atheist.
- I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000.
As is the tradition with these sorts of things, I must now tap some other bloggers for the meme. Gahlord tapped four people, but I’m going for five. I am hereby calling out Alex Woolfson, Eva Sollberger, Scott Wild, Undead Molly and Gerry Canavan. Impress me with your personal trivia.

Since 2004 Candleblog has been the online journal of Vermont filmmaker, Bill Simmon. Bill and his wife, Emily, use Candleblog as a repository of pop culture ephemera, amusing anecdotes, occasional deep thoughts and anything else they think is web-worthy.
Bill will be presenting a brief talk on the importance of community media at the 2010 SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, Texas. The presentation is called Hyperlocal Focus: Growing a Vibrant Community Media Ecosystem.
Candleblog has received the Seven Days "Daysie" Award for Best Vermont Blog (non-political) in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
