I love it, Bill! Also--VT was the first state (from its inception) to have universal adult male suffrage with no property qualifications. Yes, too bad it wasn't extended to women, too, but by comparison, in some areas across the border in NY, property qualifications meant that as little as 10% of adult males could vote. And, of course, VT was the first state to pass a civil unions law.
At any rate, at least Dorgan (ND) and Carper (DE) have chimed in with Leahy and Sanders in saying that Joe must pay the consequences for such treachery.
Btw, for those interested in the reaction to those crazy Vermonters' declaration of war:

It's disappointing, but unfortunately hardly surprising, to see the Dems playing so nice. Have to admit I was expecting them to be a bit more emboldened by Obama's landslide, not to mention how many House and Senate seats Dems picked up in the same election. I hope that the rest of 'em DO listen to Bernie and Leahy and start treating Lieberman like the apologist for fascism that he is.

I think silent Cal said it best:

"If the spirit of Liberty should vanish in other parts of this Union and support of our institutions should languish, it could all be replenished from the generous store held by the people of this brave little state of Vermont."
