It’s the simple things…

Posted on Dec 6, 2008 by billsimmon in coffee, Emily, Life of Bill | 1 Comments

Things that make life kind of nice today, despite the cold and the holiday shoppers…

  • Sleeping late. Very late.
  • Emily’s cute pig tails.
  • Emily making a yummy mac-n-cheese with broccoli and whole grain mustard just in time for me to wake up to the smell of it
  • The Soup with Joel McHale on TiVo
  • Spontaneous decisions to go out into the cold for coffee
  • Remembering the super-secret always-open downtown holiday parking lot
  • Delicious Vietnamese coffee at The Sapa
  • Delicious chocolate & peanut toffee bars, also at The Sapa
  • My very warm (almost too warm) VCAM hoodie
  • The excellent Bonnie Raitt album playing at The Sapa as I type this list
  • The free wi-fi at The Sapa

It’s only 6:00 P.M. so I’m hoping this list will continue to grow as the evening progresses.

UPDATE: harshing my simple-pleasures vibe right now is the game of Go going on at a table across the coffee house from us. One of the players has this thing where he slams his stones onto the board with a loud, reverie-disturbing crack. Is that a Go thing? Is he trying to psych out his opponent? Because I think it will ultimately be a strategy of failure when I go over there and “accidentally” throw all of their stones on the floor. Hey, what do you know? Sarcastic derision is a simple pleasure too!

  1. Per the Hikaru No Go manga I’ve read, yes it can be a Go thing and yes it’s in part to psyche out your opponent…
