Over the past several Junes I’ve made a habit out of of soliciting photographs of Candleblog readers and constructing collages of them for the blog. I even turned it into a contest for the last couple of years to help generate interest. This year, I want to try something a little different.

Let’s take a snapshot of the Vermont twitterverse!

It doesn’t matter if you’re a Candleblog reader or not (though if you’re reading this, you demonstrably qualify as one). If you are a twitter user and you are in (or from) Vermont, send me a picture of yourself (or some part of yourself if you don’t want your face involved) and I’ll assemble the images into a mosaic of the Vermont twitterverse for all to see.

Just so we’re all on the same page, here are some guidlines…

• Take an original picture of yourself for this snapshot — don’t send me your existing twitter profile pic or another old image, take one especially for this. Use your cell phone or your laptop’s camera or whatever you have handy. The point is spontaneity. Have fun.
• Make sure the picture is “of you.” You can interpret that loosely, but don’t send me a picture of your cat (unless it’s your cat’s twitter account, of course!). We don’t need to see your face, per se, but we want to see a mosaic of twitter users, not pets and business logos.
• When you email me your photo (or indicate the online location of your photo), please include your twitter user id (feel free to include it in your photo somehow too).
• You don’t have to follow me or anyone in particular to participate. Being in or from Vermont and being on Twitter are the only qualifying criteria.
• Get me the picture by June 16 at midnight and I will include it in the mosaic.

There is no competition and no prizes will be awarded and nobody is making any money — it’s strictly a social media experiment. How many pictures will we get? What does the Vermont twittersphere look like? Please reach out to your fellow Vermont tweeps and encourage them to participate!
