When my mayoral campaign was declared the winner on election night, it was a stunning victory for grassroots politics. People were really the driving force of my campaign. After being outspent 7 to 1, we proved there are no odds that can't be beaten, no status quo that can't be overturned. I hope my election serves to remind progressives everywhere how much we can accomplish when we work together.

Howard Dean gave Potter his "Dean Dozen" endorsement in May. And in August, the two of them met up for a neighborhood walk in Portland that earned a ton of free media attention for Potter. All three local news channels gave the Potter/Dean event live coverage. It was pretty fun.
