My friend John Douglas has been MeFied. That is, someone linked to his recent "Homeland Security" series of photographic prints on Metafilter, meaning tens of thousands of "MeFites" will now descend upon his homepage to check out the link, hopefully not overwhelming his bandwidth allocation in the process. Interesting facts about John Douglas:

He designed the "arricam" gun logo that I use for Candleboy Films (at the top of this page).

His partner, Bobbie, is F. Scott Fitzgerald's granddaughter.

His annual New Year's Eve bonfire parties are a local legend.

In the comments of the MeFi post, pxe2000 mentions John's resemblance to Nick Nolte. Coincidentally, I am Friendsters with pxe2000 (also known as Chelsea)--she's a filmmaker in the Boston area and she and I both belong to a couple of fan listservs (for filmmaker Hal Hartley and for The Decemberists, respectively). So this is the third net-coincidence for us in a row (if you can call me reading a comment on Metefilter about someone I personally know, written by a cyber-aquaintance, a coincidence). It's a small internet.
