The affordable G5*Tuesday, January 11 2005 @ 09:16 PM Still hemming and hawing about buying a Mac? You officially have no excuse now. Announced today at the Macworld Expo, the Mac Mini retails for $500. You supply the monitor and keyboard, etc., and you get a juicy G5 that will absolutely blow the doors off of a comparably priced PC. Now go forth and buy an Apple.
*UPDATE: Woops, it's not a G5, it's a G4 1.25GHz processor. Still, it's a great deal and a zippy machine. Go get one.

I friggin' WANT ONE! Just as soon as I can justify a third Mac in my
house. The Mac mini was the big topic at Big Picture today. Mr. Strauss and I ooh'ed and ahh'ed over its Web page and chatted about how this may take off. My concern was that it had an inkling of a chance of turning into The Cube - Part 2, but I really don't see that once taking a look at the specs. The tiny hard drive is fairly incidental, considering the even tinier $500 pricetag for the machine. It's got bang for the buck, and I think that's the whole point. And, I'm thinking that if they had gone with calling it the "Mini Mac," they would have gotten all sorts of Verne Troyer jokes. Speaking of whom, the new Surreal Life is friggin' hilarious! But, that's a "little" off-topic. I feel the urge to sub-reference more, but I'll stop "short" of that. Okay, enough. The affordable G5*
