I'm definitely not getting laid on the 26th: Stef's in SFO for a weeklong conference. Sigh.

BTW, I'm probably SAD, but it's pretty well masked by my clinical depression.

The long, gray winters in Portland do get me down sometimes. But not to the point of depression. I try to get out of town to somewhere sunny a few times during the winter. And when the sun does burn off the thick cloud layer here in PDX, which happens now and then, I go outside, stand on a street corner, and offer my face to the solar rays.

In the summer, we have more sun here than we know what to do with.

I saw a little device called a Litebook being demonstrated in a health food store recently. The light it gave off did seem quite cheery, so I'd be willing to know if its purported therapeutic effects are real.

Light boxes are oft prescribed for people with SAD. 30 minutes in front of the right spectrum and intensity of light is apparently enough to rebalance the melatonin/serotonin cycle.

Thank you Ntodd, we will be the chaste ones this week.

I am also a SAD person. I have a light and also sit next to the window. I am positive phototropic.

I like the Vita-Lites which are 5500ēK, CRI 93, I think and give off lotsa UV. They're also not bad for photo too. Still a bit green, but good enough for house lighting. I should probably get some. I did have some.

When not trying to slash my wrists, I spend inordinate amounts time in front of my CRT, which is another source of illumination, yet sadly , does not give off UV. But is 9500ēK and gives off lots of electromagnetic thing-a-majiggies. Uhhh, electro ...electro... magnetic radiation. Yes, electromagnetic radiation. 17 jigawatts worth, I think.
