Sort of off topic, sort of not.

Been there, done that, back in the 80's. A lot of the photos in the left column look like they were down rezzed. Yuck. Funny pic of Josh. Hey! I know Declan!

We did a much better job, at the Freep, when we did a Day In The Life of Burlington, back in '87? '88?. They should have had at least two other photogs shooting as well. Not much variety. Not even a shot showing the scope of the parade. Looks like they walked around a bit and snapped some photos. Oh, and snapped a shot of dancers when they were having their congratulatory beer at Red Square. No action, no life. I don't get a sense of Burlington. They also should have had way more space to play the whole spread. One page? C'mon.

Re: 7 D photo spread--I hope you send those comments to the eds. Of course, the Freep has a lot more money to do stuff like this. Photo spreads, it turns out, are actually pretty expensive. That's funny about the Penny Cluse guy. I used to work at Penny Cluse before I became a big famous writer. I bussed tables. One of the best jobs in Burlington, imho. While there, I met Stacy Frasier, who now works at Eating Well magazine. She used to work in the kitchen at PC. One day, while discussing holiday plans, we discovered that we had grown up within a couple miles of each other in the suburbs on the eastside of Detroit, MI. I went to high school with some of her friends from grade school. Vermont's like that. Also funny--Jessamyn, our VT blogger librarian friend, is headed to NC this week to talk to some UNC students. Paul Jones, the guy who organized the blogger conference I went to, is paying to bring her down there. And so it goes.
