Nixon did some good things and he did some bad things. Watergate was one of the bad things. I think Ben is a bit biased, since he seems to be a bit of a Nixon booster. Felt's motivation may have been partly, or all, about revenge. Perhaps he was doing the right thing, for the wrong reason?
I do agree with Ben that the troops, every one of them, are heroes. I disagree with Bush and his whole administration (bitch slaps all the way around), but the fact is that we now have troops in harms way, so we must support them. The hard thing is, how do you bash the prez, yet preserve the honor of our armed forces? "Was Deep Throat a hero? Anyone? Bueller?"

"Support our troops"? What kind of jingoistic lame-ass phrase is that? In what way are we to do this? Send them money? Pat them on the back? Abstain from saying anything bad about the pentagon or the administration's decisions? I give up. The only way I can support the friends of mine in Iraq is to send them emails/letters and have sex with their wives who are lonely and are looking for some action. Beyond that, I truly don't konw to what the phrase "support our troops" is referring.
[N.B. The best thing about rants via blogging is that they always sound cranky without much effort spent on conveying "crankiness"] "Was Deep Throat a hero? Anyone? Bueller?"

It's weird--Stein looks like an intellectual, but his essays are strikingly abject and mediocre.

It's the glasses and boring demeanor that makes him appear to be
intilexyewal.
