my current favorite:
Afuega'l Pitu
Description:
Traditional, unpasteurized, fresh cheese made from cow's milk. It has a cone or pumpkin-shape. The rind is buff to deep orange in color and has a dusting of white mould. Afuega'l Pitu means "a fire in the gut". Fresh red chili pepper is added to the cheese and more is rubbed into the rind as the cheese is allowed to mature.
Country: Spain Milk: cow milk Recommended Wine: undefined Producer: undefined
The idea of a cheese with some undefined parameters is appealing. --- Still loving vacation... in the meantime:

Oh yes, sir. It's staggeringly popular in this manor, squire.

Wenslydale: (brightly) You haven't asked me about Limburger, sir.
Customer: Would it be worth it? Wenslydale: Could be.... Customer: Have you --SHUT THAT BLOODY BAZOUKI OFF! Wenslydale: Told you sir.... Customer: (slowly) Have you got any Limburger? Wenslydale: No. Customer: Figures. Predictable, really I suppose. It was an act of purest optimism to have posed the question in the first place. Tell me Wenslydale: Yessir? Customer: Have you in fact got any cheese here at all. Wenslydale: Yes,sir. Customer: Really? (pause) Wenslydale: No. Not really, sir. Customer: You haven't. Wenslydale: Nosir. Not a scrap. I was deliberately wasting your time, sir. Customer: Well I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to shoot you. Wenslydale: Right-0, sir. The customer takes out a gun and shoots the owner. Customer: What a *senseless* waste of human life. Mmmm, Beaver Cheese. Still loving vacation... in the meantime:

I expect a complete re-enactment of the cheese shop scene at the nerd party on Saturday (which has moved to VCAM, BTW). Come prepared. NTodd, you're Wensleydale. Amy, you're Mousebender. Learn your lines.

"All the known cheeses" makes it sound as if there are unknown cheeses hurtling through deep space lodged in comets, or hidden within extra-galactic nebulae, waiting to be discovered like elements missing from the periodic table.
If you're gonna list them as "known," at least do so in table form and give us their atomic weights. --- Still loving vacation... in the meantime:

I believe that there are some here to fore "unknown" cheeses recently discovered in the Amazon Rain forest last year. Brazilian "Whooping" Cheese and the now infamous "Spore" chief among the recently discovered types.
The Whooping Cheese is believed to be Pre-Columbian. Still loving vacation... in the meantime:

I'd like to throw in a witticism about cheeses but that world is indeed quite foreign to me. The cheese-shop skit suggestion for the 'party' is grate (har) however we run the risk of turning the entire affair into a Monty Python re-enactment party, which while entirely nerdy, evokes a level of degradation of culture, spirit and intellect that belies the true weltanshauung of the modern nerd. On the other hand, translating it into greek or changing the context to a software shop may do the trick:
have you any open source? oh yes sir, the finest in the county. very well, i'll have openoffice for osX. very well ... ummm, it is a bit buggy. that's fine, i like my software buggy. it is rather buggy sir. serve it up, man, the buggier the better. um ... it's crashing right and left - ooops! it corrupted the os. ... woah, that was too nerdy. i've got to get back to my programming project. hey, speaking of which, anybody have a source for monty python skit mp3's? i listened to the last FCB on my ipod whilst running and it struck me that while entertaining, MPFC's would ... um ... be good too. Can't find a list of mp3's yet, but there's a good CGI for a portion of the Cheese Shop skit:
http://www.daminator.com/anim/fin/cheese_emporium.mpg The animation's a bit runny. Quite running, as a matter of fact. I think it's runnier than you'd like. Still loving vacation... in the meantime:

Go here for some tasty Python sound comestables. Hit "Enter" and then "Full Sketch or Large WAVs" button on the upper left. They have some of the better sketches. I just found the site so there's probably other stuff on the site I haven't discovered yet. Still loving vacation... in the meantime:
