vermontWell, after a month of travel that's taken me through Idaho, Utah, Colorado, New York, Massachusetts, and now Vermont, it's time to go home to Oregon. It's interesting to come back to Vermont as an adult whose priorities no longer include sucking the nitrous oxide from a can of whipped cream while watching Letterman. During this visit I biked the waterfront bike path, explored Ethan Allen Park (and climbed the tower), birded Oakledge Park (but couldn't find the Pileated Woodpecker whose rectangular excavations mark many trees in the woods between the park and Bill's apartment), meandered through the organic farms of the Intervale under the roar of jets about to land at BTV, visited my homeland (Jeffersonville/Cambridge), went sailing near Charlotte on choppy waters, spent the night at Terry's 1850 farmhouse in Shoreham, went over the mountain road at Smuggler's Notch, dined al fresco in Brandon, mingled with hipsters at Metronome, biked out to the end of the Colchester Causeway and jumped in the lake, skinny dipped at Galandrielle's birthday party, picked blueberries at the Charlotte Berry Farm, watched Broken Flowers at the Roxy (thumbs up), devoured a maple frozen yogurt at Dakin's, recorded two podcasts at the Radio Bean, ate at Five Spice, bought arugula and cantaloupe and maple syrup at the Saturday farmers' market, and interacted with the Hot Dog Lady.

In conclusion, I heart Vermont. See ya next time.
