Thanks for the post. I plan on listening to this today. This is real heady stuff and Sterling is fun to read. Where I most appreciate him is in how he consolidates ideas and how he can focus on the weird nether-world of abstracting a physical object into a virtual process, and envision the process, the physical manifestation and the object's meta-data as simply a larger object. Real visionary. Because I live and work in the world of supplier-manufacturer collaboration, the transition from 'communicating transactions' to seeing objects become cross-phase, extended information is already in full swing. It's the future visions like his that will help drive the rapidity with which this stuff reaches a more stable form.

Great speech. Really great. I'm thoroughly energized by it. I loved the line "locked in a closet feeding on their own delusions". Also, his use of upward inflections is very french, but his lack of franco-american heritage or accent makes him sound a little weird. Also, I picture Zappa, if were still alive, hanging on every word. Thanks for posting the .mp3. I was bummed I didn't hear him speak.
