VERY cool.
not to be a name dropper but i am having dinner with Cory Doctorow next thursday night - i will tell him how original the procession and the entire wedding were. (and how perfectly tricked we were by the opening notes of the 'wedding march' before it e/devolved) We've been Boing Boinged

Cool. Would you also ask him to give us some good England/London tourist suggestions? Em and I will be travelling there next spring for our honeymoon.
Why are you having dinner with CD? We've been Boing Boinged

Not to be an attention hog but I am traveling there tomorrow Bill. York and Brighton are my absolute favs so far. Manchester is cool architecturally and theatRE-wise - it is a big city though so somewhat taken over. I haven't checked out Cambridge yet but the ride through on the train showed more trees that I'd been missing than anywhere else I'd seen so I'd like to go there and look closer sometime. Oxford was way disappointing, except for a few remnants of thoughtful culture. I'm not really a big fan of London - it was filled with frustration even before the attacks - but that's just about getting around there. Those are my ideas... I don't know who this other guy is.

My fave place in London was the Sir John Soames museum. You will love it. LOVE it.

I went to London a couple of times. Young's Bitters is really good. I've gotten bottles here in the US, but having it from the tap with fish & chips was pretty tasty.
I did a lot of the touristy things, but it was fun. It was a long time ago, 1981, so I'm sure things are different, but I enjoyed just walking around, soaking up the culture and people watching. Listening to the BBC radio was interesting and prompted me to get some vinyl at a record store, some of which I think I still have. Musically there was a lot going on then, so it was pretty interesting to hear the new songs and then hear them a few months later in the U.S. I bought Theatre of Hate (never saw it in the U.S.), Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, Fun Boy Three, Bananarama, Duran Duran and a UK live album. Most were EP's. I really liked Duran Duran's first single, This is Planet Earth, so I got the Night Romantics EP, which had the Nite Romantics version, which was pretty cool. They were playing at some club, but I didn't go. It's not like I was busy, either. My one regret is not checking out the night life in London. Watching TV in England should be fun.
