I am:
Hal Clement (Harry C. Stubbs) A quiet and underrated master of "hard science" fiction who, among other things, foresaw integrated circuits back in the 1940s. Interesting, because I've never read any of his stuff. I'll have to check him out. Which Sci-Fi Writer Are You?

Emily is:
Ursula K. LeGuin Perhaps the most admired writing talent in the science fiction field. Note that she did not answer the question about "the opposite sex" by saying she was the opposite sex. She answered the same as me, "happily married so I'm glad I don't have to worry about it." Which Sci-Fi Writer Are You?

Apparently, I'm Alfred Bester. Does this mean that J. Michael Straczynski will now return my calls? --

My two possible results, depending on whether I chose "I'm so smooth I couldn't possibly be a science fiction writer anyway" or "I AM the opposite sex", were Ursula Le Guin and James Tiptree, Jr.
Something tells me that someone actually wrote a quiz that means something -- both of these writers are among my favorites. Which Sci-Fi Writer Are You?

It's interesting that you got two women writers, regardless of your response variations. I was a big fan of Tiptree (Alice Sheldon) when I used to read more sci fi.

The more I think about it, the more I wish I had gotten Tiptree. She had represented a 'sience impact on humanity' kind of writer, almost like if you took Vonnegut, wiped away a bit of the irony & humor, converted the stories to be more detailed in the science, made the socio-scientific aspect of the individual's actions be reflective of humanity at large and allowed the individuals actions to expand and become themes of the wider world. Oh wait, that's an entirely different kind of writing. Okay, so I started reading both in the early 70's. ... never mind. hey, how about that hairy lobster they found ....

I got Vonnegut, too. Not terribly surprised.
Why hate on Bradbury? --- "As for the charges against me, I am unconcerned. I am beyond their timid, lying morality, and so I am beyond caring." Which Sci-Fi Writer Are You?

Hairy lobster?! Dude, where can I find info on it?
You know, a biography of Tiptree came out last year and it was really good. It made a bunch of "Best of" lists. She was a fucked up and brilliant and fascinating person. FWIW, the answers I put into the quiz that returned her as the result were 1:c, 2:d, 3:c, 4:b, 5:f, 6:c, 7:a, 8:a, 9:c, 10:b, 11:b. Question 8 seems a bit weird given that Tiptree died long before any of those guys ran for president, but I guess they're just trying to establish political outlook. Which Sci-Fi Writer Are You?

If it wasn't for Truffaut making a great film out of Farenheit 451 I doubt I'd have much positive to say. Part of it is just my preference for science fiction over fantasy. To me, the best illustration is "Something Wicked This Way Comes" which has in it everything I don't like about Bradbury's writing.

That thing looks so much like Chewbacca that I had to double check on Wikipedia to make sure the BBC wasn't having us on. Well, hell, the thing is lobsterifically real! Thanks for the surreal update on the wild kingdom, Dan.

Benford's cool because a science guy. I was a big Niven/Pournelle fan and just noticed that Benford wrote a Main/Kzin war novel ( A Darker Geometry). I wonder if he wrote any Star Trek novels (I can't tell from his Wikipedia entry).
