I was talking about the VA Tech shootings w/ my stepson today. He's a student at VT Tech. It's a notoriously nerdy school - so the question was: "have you ever encountered a student that made you think 'this guy's a shooter'?"

His reply: "well, the Gun Club is one of the biggest clubs around and these guys are always walking around in camo and carrying lots of guns, so it pretty much gets you accustomed to that. the rest of the kids all act like loners, shooters, shooter wanna-be's, shooters-in-training or just your basic nerdy VTech student, so I guess the answer is 'no' - or 'of course' - depending on how you look at it."

I'm generally surprised that school shootings don't happen more often than they do. I knew a few candidates when I was in school - I think there were times when I was one myself. Alienation from family, peers, and America in general; being a target of bullying; hopelessness; powerlessness; rage; desire for revenge against percieved enemies; self-loathing; access to guns. It's not an uncommon combination of feelings and factors. I guess it's some inherent psychological trait which allows the individual to tip over into the Big Event.

i was just trying to get candleblog showing up in google searches of "ismail ax", figuring it was one of the most googled phrases lately. i'm still not getting candleblog in the 9 phrases returned (using quotation marks around the phrase: "ismail ax").

seek help. you're not okay.

Google must be starting to pick up on it because Candleblog had an unusually good day, traffic wise today and a lot of it came late in the day from searches for the term.
