Emily and I just became vegetarians. Why, you ask? Well, because it's obviously the right thing to do for, like, a lot of very good reasons. Eating meat is ridiculously wasteful, mostly bad for people (at least the way most people eat it), and it adds to a culture of cruelty to animals that is downright scandalous. Honestly, I've known these things for a long time but I successfully kept my fingers in my ears because I like meat so freaking much. But I read an in-your-face, get-the-hell-over-yourself blog post about what a dumb thing it is to keep eating meat given the facts and I woke up. Thanks a lot, George Dvorsky! Thanks for taking my cheeseburgers away!
The blog post that sold me is here. Make sure you skim the comments for some fun pro-meat troll baiting. Emily posted about it too.
For the record, Emily and I are allowing ourselves one fresh, Vermont farm-raised, free range turkey each Thanksgiving. And fish. We must take baby steps, after all.
Now DanZ (and JIMO) can tell me what a hypocrite I am for continuing to wear leather, drive a car and go to the movies.
