My first SF hero, Isaac Asimov, discusses the Bible and religion in this 1982 Free Inquiry interview

It turns out (not really, see below) that the Sun and planets are not actually members of the Milky Way galaxy, but rather belong to an orbiting dwarf galaxy that's interacting with the Milky Way. Go figure. (Thanks, Eve!)
