Even rabid bobcats know enough to stay away from Chuck Norris. That bobcat ran all the way from Texas to Vermont just to escape the wrath of Chuck Norris' Beard.

About 4 years ago I was working late for a client in Cabot, Vermont, in the bleak mid-winter.  As night progressed, a quick inquiry lead me to a B&B of sorts on 215 just shy of Larry & Sons Excavating as you head into town.  I was the only one staying there on that cold late January night, and the folks that ran the place were happy to sit around and tell Chuck Norris jokes and such.  Around 9pm there was a frantic knock on the door.  It was Ed's kid from next-door.  Something was working it's way up the valley (the headwaters of the Winooski River) killing chickens and Conyers and Latimores lost chickens in the last 6 hours and we have tracks everywhere.  Well, we all put on our coats and boots and went out in the dark with blustery wind and blowing snow and powder-on-crust and wouldn't you know it but sure there were bobcat tracks around the chicken coop but aside from a few drops of blood (and I do mean 'a few') and no chickens, there was nothin' but tracks.  We ran around and around and finally heard the crack of the 30cal deer rifle, and then again, and then a shout.  Well, when all was said and done I got my picture taken on the front porch of ... what was it?  The Wildflower Inn?... by the light of a bare 75W bulb, me and Ed and E's kid and Karl and Karl's wife and the lady that owned the chickens and some other guy, and we're all grinning and Ed's holding up the bobcat by it's back legs and I'm wearing my business clothes and overcoat and a pair of borrowed galoshes.  I've never seen the picture but I sure remember it well.

Wow. I think the young man who reported the story may be the brother of the late Chris Bosma, fixture of the Weekend Special party scene circa 1989.
