Still pumping out the books, albeit with the assistance of a co-writer. But even if the guy has to move Clarke's hand over the keyboard to get him to type, it's still pretty impressive to be creating at 90. No, I haven't read any of his newer stuff, because I'm too busy with my three most recent, awesomely awesome literary selections. H. P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, which is definitely a different Lovecraft book, being that it's more sci-fi than gothic horror. Lian Hearn's Across the Nightingale Floor, a fantasy novel taking place in a magical version of feudal Japan. It's a good read that I can confidently recommend to any fantasy fan looking for a break from Tolkien rip-offs. And Jack McDevitt's Chindi, an absolute must for sci-fi readers in the tradition of Arthur C. Clarke, and even Carl Sagan's fictional work. I know you were all dying to know what Jimm-Oprah's been reading lately, so there you go. --- |
