Meeting and eating meat in meatspace

vermontI spent a couple of hours at Burlignton's North Beach today at the First Annual VDB/GMD Political Barbeque and Hamburger Summit, which was thrown by Phillip Baruth of Vermont Daily Briefing and Odum of Green Mountain Daily. I knew just where to go as I pedaled onto the beach. I just looked for the group of people that was the most likely to be made up of political candidates and staffers and bloggers. We sort of stood out.

I had a good time hanging with my friends Steve and Evening and NeilJ (AKA "Vermonter") and was pleased to meet many bloggers whose online presences were known to me but whose faces had been a mystery. I also rubbed shoulders with several political candidates vying for statewide office including US House candidate Peter Welch, Gubernatorial candidate Scudder Parker and Lt. Governor candidates Matt Dunne and John Tracy. Where else but in Vermont can you bicycle to a laid back little bar-b-que and meet (and play tag football with) four major candidates for state-wide office?

And I'm pretty sure I was the only one to make a joke about it being "meatspace" while holding a hamburger... not.
