How do you say ‘popcorn’ in Old English?
Monday, February 26th, 2007There have been many attempts over the years to bring the Anglo Saxon poem, Beowulf to the silver screen, some more successful than others, but all leaving something to be desired. Most recently director Sturla Gunnarsson gave us Beowulf and Grendel. Surprisingly, it turned out to be better than bad, and yet the best thing about it was the scenery (it was filmed in Iceland–jaw-droppingly beautiful). Anyway, I just noticed on IMDB, that there is another version in post-production at this very moment. This would perhaps be less than exciting, but for the fact that it has been written by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avery, and has an all-star cast including Ray Winstone, Brendan Gleeson, Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, and Grendel will be played by none other than. . .Crispin Glover! Begin holding breath now.
